Highly anticipated reads
Fall 2016 edition

I don’t know about you, but I am lining up pre-orders by the dozens this
summer! It is for the first time in my life that I wish summer were over, because
there are so many great books coming out that I need to read ASAP. Some I’ve
been waiting for a long time, others I’ve just found out about on Instagram or

A Week of Mondays | Jessica Brody

I read this book in Dutch, which I don’t do often. I got a copy from the publisher
(Blossom Books) via my job as a buyer for the bookstore that I’m the assistant
manager of.Jessica Brody’s A Week of Mondays was translated by Lisette
Jonkman, who is a writer herself and whom I’ve met when she gave a workshop
in creative writing at our bookstore. I really enjoyed meeting her and have been
following her on social media. She is a very funny person, and I was very curious
to see how that would manifest itself in her translation of A Week of Mondays.

Kiss of Deception | Mary E Pearson

Sometimes you’ve had a book on your Goodreads list as a TBR forever. This was
one of them for me. I came across it while searching for inspiration on what new
books to discover. I put it on there, then never really decided if I actually wanted
the book. It seemed like a great premise – a princess in hiding, two men after her.
One the spurned prince, the other her assassin, and her not knowing which is
which. But I still wasn’t sure. I hadn’t read much YA at the time, prefering fantasy.
But ever since I joined Instagram, I kept seeing it, and the third and final volume
was about to be released. High time to take the plunge and try this book.

Wink Poppy Midnight | April Genevieve Tucholke

I’m not really sure what I actually think of Wink Poppy Midnight. I have just
finished it, so maybe I need to let it sink in more. I was highly anticipating this
book, and so I was overexcited when I opened my work email and found an
ARC from the publisher in my inbox. I couldn’t wait to read it, and because it
was slooow at the bookstore I literally started right away. (It’s the start of the
dreaded “bouwvak” here, a three week vacation period during summer in which
every single Dutch person has packed their belongings to hightail it out of here.)
